Helping Others Live a Better Life: Wheels to Prosper

Imagine life without a car or reliable transportation. In today's world this means much more than mere inconvenience. Often one's survival depends upon access to a vehicle, whether it is getting to work, taking the kids to school, making it to a job interview, or simply picking up food for the family. The lack of adequate transportation creates hardships and real disadvantages for those who are already struggling.

At Schroeder’s Automotive Specialists we are very happy to be participating in a nationwide program launched in 2011 called Wheels to Prosper. This program awards a fully inspected, fully repaired car to a deserving individual, helping that person get back on his or her feet again.

If you would like to nominate someone for our next giveaway, please follow the instructions below and fill out our online application form, or download this hardcopy to send in your nomination.

You can also help the Wheels to Prosper mission by donating a vehicle you no longer use or want.

Note: The Wheels to Prosper winner is responsible for tax, title, registration, and six months of insurance.

We held our Wheels to Prosper giveaway on August 12th. Our winner, Carrie Miller, was nominated by Amanda Zumbrun who submitted an extremely heartfelt nomination letter. Carrie and her husband of 18 years had fallen on some tough times, which made supporting their six children very hard to do. Carrie was trying to achiever her dream of completing training to becoming a financial coach in order to help those in desperate financial straits to turn their lives around.

She began coaching family and friends along with online training with the goal of becoming a Dave Ramsey certified financial counselor. Adding to the difficulty of juggling six kids, trying to start up a financial planning business, meet with clients, and serve at her church, Carrie had to plan out where she could drive because her car would overheat after driving about 15 minutes.

Despite all of the challenges she was facing and never complaining about her situation, Carrie was able to complete her training in a few short weeks. She now offers her financial coaching services at Café of Hope several evenings a week and loves helping those in need. Amanda stated that Carrie "is a stalwart example of faith and devotion" and we couldn't agree more! Congratulations to Carrie and her family on being this year's Wheels to Prosper recipient and thank you for giving back to and being a great example for both your family and our community!!
